The Mitsubishi Outlander is a favorite compact SUV of enthusiasts and the average driver alike. The current generation has been around for a while, which led to many believing that the next-generation Mitsubishi Outlander was right around the corner. Now the next-generation Outlander has been spotted testing and the spy photos are pretty revealing.
The new model will take cues from the 2013 and 2015 XR-PHEV concepts, a welcome move, given the brand’s skilled hand in styling. The look won’t be quite as sporty but the front end and sloping roof are here to stay.
The next-generation Mitsubishi Outlander will likely be more compact to compete with models like the Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V.
Several photos gave a sneak peek at the interior, which features a new layout with the infotainment touchscreen on top and plenty of chrome and silver details.
The new Outlander will likely come stocked with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A new plug-in hybrid model is also rumored as well. Both models will come with front-wheel drive. Rumors of an all-electric Outlander have been flurrying around the industry but there’s no confirmation from Mitsubishi yet.
We here at Quebedeaux Mitsubishi can’t wait for the arrival of the next-generation Outlander!
