Automotive Science Group Honors Mitsubishi Motors With Industry-Leading Awards

Mitsubishi Logo On Wheel

It’s time to celebrate! The Automotive Science Group just recognized Mitsubishi Motors as the “Best All-Around Performance Brand” and the “Best Economic Performance Brand”. These awards follow in the wake of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV being given a “Best 5 All-Around Performance Award” for its segment last month, and alongside the announcement that the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage has been awarded the “Best Economic Performance Car” and “Best 5 All-Around Performance” titles.

To determine the recipients of these coveted awards, the Automotive Science Group (ASG) evaluates three major areas: environmental, social, and economic performance. The ASG evaluated 33 automotive companies and found that Mitsubishi Motors beats the competition be an average of 16%, pulling ahead to offer the best all-around value and performance of any automaker in 2018.

Just as the 2018 Outlander and Outlander PHEV have received spectacular acclaim since their release, so too has the 2018 Mirage. It received the “Best Economic Performance Award” for the second consecutive year and boasts “the smallest life-cycle carbon footprint of any conventional powertrain.” In addition, it earned a “Best 5” title out of 356 vehicles evaluated in its small car segment, outcompeting other cars as a result of its exceptional value, performance, and low costs of ownership.

With the Outlander platform and Mirage, the future of Mitsubishi looks bright. If you want to see either of these vehicles in person and take them for a test drive, contact us at Quebedeaux Mitsubishi.

How to Check Your Car’s Air Conditioning System

Service Technician Checking Car Air Conditioning System

Summer is here, and it’s never fun getting stuck somewhere with broken air conditioning. Even worse is when your car’s air conditioning system stops working, making running errands and commuting to work an all-around unenjoyable experience. Sitting in the heat sweating with your legs stuck to the seat is an experience best left avoided. If you’re car’s air conditioning system hasn’t been performing as it should, or if you just want to look the system over, no time is better than at the beginning of summer. Here’s a guide on how to check your car’s air conditioning system and make sure it’s in proper working order.

  1. First, check the fans, the temperature of the air flow, and your car’s air filter: These are simple checks that may resolve the issue without causing a headache. Check to make sure the fans are blowing and the air coming out is cool. If very little air is coming out, you will to check your car’s air filter to make sure it’s clear and not obstructing air flow. If these checks don’t resolve the issue, move on to step 2.
  2. Check A/C compressor: The A/C compressor is located in the engine bay. To check to make sure that the A/C compressor is working, have your car on, the air conditioner running, and make sure that the compressor’s pulley is rotating. If it’s not, there could be a problem with the compressor and you will want to take your car into a service center to have the system looked at. If you’d like, you can add refrigerant and check for cracks in the system on your own, but it may be easier to have it looked at by a professional.

Sometimes checking your car’s air conditioning is a technical task you just don’t have time for in your busy schedule. Feel free to contact us at Quebedeaux Mitsubishi for an appointment if you need assistance.

Get Your Car Road-Trip Ready for the Summer Months

Get your family car road-trip ready for summer!

As we become closer and closer to June and the official beginning of summer, many of us will be dreaming up summer road trips to take with friends or family members. Before setting out on your adventures, however, you should prepare your vehicle to face the heat and long hours of driving. Here are some tips on how to get your car road-trip ready for the summer months.

  1. Check your oil, all fluid levels, and tires: Before hitting the road, you will want to perform a few basic checks on your vehicle. You will want to check your oil, windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and coolant levels. This last one is particularly important, as it helps keep the engine cool while on the go. You will also want to check your tire pressure and tire treads, making sure your tires are adequately filled and that your tires are in good shape for long hours of driving.
  2. Clean or replace your cabin’s air filter: If you’ll be spending a lot of time in the car, you’ll want to make sure that your car’s air filter is clean or new (if you haven’t changed it in a couple years).
  3. Make sure your air conditioning is in good working order: Driving around in the heat is no fun, so you will want to check your car’s air conditioner, making sure all parts are in good shape and that it’s in proper working order.

If your vehicle isn’t quite ready for a long road trip, come see the team at Quebedeaux Mitsubishi for a new car or the repairs your current ride needs.

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Honored with Top Awards from Automotive Science Group

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Honored with Top Awards from Automotive Science Group

This month, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Outlander were honored with a top award from the Automotive Science Group. The Outlander received the coveted “Best 5 All-Around Performance” award, which is no easy feat: the group considered 372 models for this competition.

The Outlander was chosen for its exceptional performance, value, and smart engineering, with the Automotive Science Group citing the Outlander as outperforming its competitors by an average of 22%. This prestigious award is given to the “top five automobiles in each vehicle class that the organization determines to achieve the highest combined environmental, economic, and social performance scores.”

The Outlander is no stranger to smart performance, especially when it comes to the PHEV model. The 2018 Outlander PHEV boasts 74 MPGe and an all-electric driving range of 22 miles – which is perfect for the daily commute and most everyday driving needs. With the standard Super All-Wheel Control system, the Outlander PHEV combines all the SUV capabilities drivers desire with the eco-friendly efficiency drivers deserve. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Sales Lead Brand’s Best Sales Yet

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sales

A few years ago, when the revamped Mitsubishi Outlander appeared on the market with several family-friendly revisions, the automaker announced plans to expand the crossover/SUV lineup and move away from its reputation for practical, budget-friendly sedans. That move proved to be a good strategy, and now, the Outlander family has expanded to include the Outlander Sport and the Outlander PHEV. To the surprise of experts everywhere, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sales seem to be leading the charge when it comes to Mitsubishi’s success in 2017.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was available globally a few years ago, with its U.S. launch being repeatedly delayed due to the fact Mitsubishi wanted to revise the nameplate and add a few upgrades before bringing it stateside. This seems to have been a wise choice. 2017 was Mitsubishi’s best year in sales since 2007, and the brand overall had a sales growth of 7.7% over the previous year due to breaking the 100,000 milestone for vehicles delivered.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sales are defying expectation. While selling 623 units in 2017 may not sound impressive when compared to other, more traditional vehicles on the market, the plug-in hybrid SUV brings a new niche of customers to the Mitsubishi brand. Outlander PHEV sales are only expected to increase over the following three-year period.
