Here in the United States, the best-selling Mitsubishi model is the Outlander Sport thanks to its incredible value and versatility. In Europe, another Outlander model is getting all the love. That is the Outlander PHEV.
In Europe, the desire to own an electric or hybrid vehicle is stronger than it is currently in the United States. Because of this, many of the best-selling European cars are hybrids. In fact, the best-selling plug-in hybrid model in Europe is the Outlander PHEV. Making this even more impressive is the fact that it has held this title for four years in a row.
“The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is our brand flagship, our best seller in Europe, a trend-setter that the industry is watching carefully and a pointer to MMC’s long term strategy, blending adventurous SUV heritage with progressive electrified technologies,” said Bernard Loire, the president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe.
Luckily, the Outlander PHEV isn’t just a European model. It is available here in the United States right now. It comes with a 2.0-liter MIVEC DOHC four-cylinder engine paired with 60kW Twin AC synchronous electric motors. This combination has an output of 197 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. When fully charged, the Outlander PHEV offers up to 22 miles of pure electric driving.
