As we become closer and closer to June and the official beginning of summer, many of us will be dreaming up summer road trips to take with friends or family members. Before setting out on your adventures, however, you should prepare your vehicle to face the heat and long hours of driving. Here are some tips on how to get your car road-trip ready for the summer months.
- Check your oil, all fluid levels, and tires: Before hitting the road, you will want to perform a few basic checks on your vehicle. You will want to check your oil, windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and coolant levels. This last one is particularly important, as it helps keep the engine cool while on the go. You will also want to check your tire pressure and tire treads, making sure your tires are adequately filled and that your tires are in good shape for long hours of driving.
- Clean or replace your cabin’s air filter: If you’ll be spending a lot of time in the car, you’ll want to make sure that your car’s air filter is clean or new (if you haven’t changed it in a couple years).
- Make sure your air conditioning is in good working order: Driving around in the heat is no fun, so you will want to check your car’s air conditioner, making sure all parts are in good shape and that it’s in proper working order.
